Oku Calls For More Support To Sports Development In Ofagbe ....Congratulates Etevie Community



The Special Assistant on Media to Governor Okowa's Special Adviser on Rural and Community Development, Comrade Victory Oku, has pleaded with the general public, particularly Ofagbe Sons and Daughters, to invest in sports development, stressing it brings togetherness amongst the people.


He made the statement on Friday, December 1, 2021 while speaking at the finals of the 2020 Ofagbe Inter-Quarters Football Competition, at the Ibakpa Primary School Field, in Ofagbe, Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State. 


"Well-to-do Sons and Daughters of Ofagbe and corporate organizations, should be involved in the sponsorship of sporting activities, especially football in our community, to promote unity, love and peace."


"Yesterday, we watched a beautiful game of football; I must confess that the whole kingdom was very happy with what happened. Without doubt, it unite our people, keep the youths busy and discover hidden talents."


"We need a lot of sponsorship; I tried my best to make sure the last year competition took place. Though there were other supports at different levels, it is not enough; we need more to strengthen our people in football sector, because it is part of the peace we preach and needs in our Kingdom. This just concluded competition was really without good taste, but we thank God it ended well."


"At the end of 90 minutes of play, Etevie Quarters team piped Uruonye Quarters football team 1-0 to lift the trophy. Though there was no cash prize, but we hope more support will come in to make this years own more colorful."


"I officially congratulate the Etevie Community of Ofagbe Kingdom, who has won this competition. It is always good to be a winner. Let us all celebrate them and prepare for this years own," Comrade Oku said.


Ambassador Comrade Oku Victory who was the sponsor, presented awards to the Best Player, Highest Goal Scorer and Best Goalkeeper. He also handed the trophy to the first place team.
