Workers' Day: Delta Pioneer Speaker, Okoro Commends Nigerian Workers

As the country marks another milestone in the history of labour, the Pioneer Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro has commended Nigerian workers for their contributions and dedication to nation building.

Okoro in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media, Comrade Oku Victory, in Asaba on Friday April 30th and sent to Raw Reporters on Saturday May 1st, 2021 to mark this year’s May Day, eulogies Workers, saying Nigerian workers have, through their hard work and dedication to duty, helped to curb the spread of the deadly COVID-19 pandemic now ravaging the world.

While appreciating the workers for their tireless efforts in the public and private sectors, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, who now is Special Adviser to the State Governor on Rural and Community Development, specially praised those in the health sector for putting their lives on the line to save others from the deadly virus COVID-19, referring to them as the Country’s Heroes of the moment.

He particularly commended medical doctors, nurses, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, ambulance drivers, volunteers of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), auxiliary staff, cleaners, those working in isolation centers, care givers, general hospital personnel and all other workers who put their lives at risk to contain the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the country.

However, he charged all Nigerians to mostly be prayerful to God Almighty and also support the Federal and State Governments, as well as NCDC directives on personal and environmental hygeine, social distancing and the compulsory wearing of face masks in public gatherings, as the ways to further contain spread of the virus.

“The Nigerian worker is a perfect definition of hard work, resilience and commitment to duty. Over time so much expectations are always placed on him, most especially in this age of the end of the world, known as the last days, where through much tribulation we are saved by God's grace and power.

“They have through sweat and blood carved the survival and structure of Nigeria hence deserve every atom of commendation as they celebrate. Their role in the nation development across all sectors cannot be over emphasized in a country plagued with too many developmental intrigues. I wish them the best.”

Rt. Hon. Okoro, going further, acknowledged Governor Okowa's  tireless efforts in the task of Stronger Delta building and commitment towards curbing spread of the deadly virus in the state.

“Our Governor, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa is a God fearing man who has his people's wellbeing at heart. I commend him for putting all necessary measures in place to ensure that workers and indeed all Deltans are not negatively impacted from the economic effects of the pandemic.

“We pray Jehovah the Almighty God in his infinite mercies continue to grant us more of his grace in his service and services of humanity", he stated.
