Okoro says ultra-modern secretariat would engrave Okowa’s legacy in the sands of time

As preparations are in high gear for the commissioning of the new ultra-modern Prof. Chike Edozien secretariat, in the state capital, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and community development, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, PhD has joined in showering encomiums on the actualization of the landmark project.
Speaking exclusively to officials of Raw Reporters led by His Special Assistant on Media, Comrade Oku Victory, on Friday, at his office in Asaba, the Pioneer Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, hailed Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for his foresight in conceiving and actualizing such a monumental vision, which would go down as one of the greatest achievements of his administration.
“Since Governor Okowa came on board, he promised Deltans prosperity on material and infrastructural scale and he has since that time embarked on numerous developmental projects, but this ultra-modern secretariat tops the lot. This secretariat would be talked about for generations to come and by so doing, he has ensured his legacy would be engraved in the history of the state, long after he has gone”.
Dr. Okoro also opined that the Prof. Chike Edozien secretariat would give the civil service community a sense of belonging in the state and that would also translate to increased productivity in carrying out their roles as they continue to service the three arms of government.
“This new secretariat would give the civil servants a sense of belonging. The conduicive atmosphere would be enough motivation for them, the secretariat is one of international standard, compared to the rented ramshackle apartments they were previously occupying. So the urge to stay in their offices would be high, a place where there is 24 hour power availability, their work would be easier and faster compared to what was obtainable before”.
Okoro also used the opportunity to chide, critics who called the project a waste of scarce and limited resources as those blinded by political affiliations, instead of rational and logical thinking.
“They are just making a political statement. They know that this project is long overdue, if we are being honest. Being at the mercy of landlords and their exorbitant rents, year-in, year-out, is now a thing of the past. This project would help the government save those monies set aside for rent and channel them into more productive ventures in the interest of all Deltans”, he said.
