...says Augoye remains best hand for the governorship position in 2023
ASABA: The Executive Assistant to Delta State Governor on Community Development, Olorogun David Omoru, on Wednesday, called on PDP members to allow Chief James Augoye fly the party's ticket to contest the 2023 governorship election.
According to him, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Delta State should return the favour they received from the loyalty and good services of Chief James Augoye across the state, stressing that Augoye should not be judged using his ability to lift a bag of cement.
In a message that would amuse many Deltans, Chief Omoru noted that the ability to carry a bag of cement should not be equated to the ability of constructively using one's brain.
The veteran journalist, publisher, human rights activist and astute politician, Chief David Omoru also tackled those who are saying James Augoye is unfit to be the Governor of Delta State.
“The mark of true leadership isn’t the ability to lift a bag of cement. It’s the mental effort to think rationally of solutions designed to redeem one’s people and territorial jurisdiction.
“PDP should zone the governorship ticket to Delta Central and give Augoye the right of first refusal, as he remains the best hand over there. None of the 2023 governorship aspirants has made more sacrifices to the growth of the state democracy than Chief James Augoye.
“Augoye is a tested, accomplished and large-hearted leader who has invested his resources in building an extensive network of political mentees who have risen to the peak of their careers.
“Augoye is also smart, intelligent and a political strategist, who has worked over the years to building a formidable political structure across Delta State and he deserve a shot at the seat of power to do more”, Chief Omoro said.
Responding to questions as to the competence of other governorship aspirants, Chief Omoru, who doubles as Leader of the 3rd Force, said, “It is true that the rest aspirants have what it takes to succeed Governor Okowa, but they don't have the knowledge, capacity, resources and wealth of knowledge like Augoye.
“As long as Deltans are looking for the best, we shouldn’t go for substandard. We need a proactive person who can quickly transform the state and heal most of the wounds that we have,” he added.
