Monarch tasks Delta govt on insecurity - Raw Reporters
CHAIRMAN of the Ndokwa Traditional Rulers Council and the Oduosa of Utagba-Ogbe, HRM Obi Isaac Pius, has urged the Delta State Govemment to address the issue of insecurity facing the people of Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality.
The monarch, who played host to the Special Adviser to the Governor on Rural and Community Development, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, PhD and his team in his palace, said the Ndokwa people are concerned over the growing situation of insecurity generally in Nigeria and Ndokwa nation in particular.
He noted that criminality going on in the land have made life unbearable for the indigenous population, especially in eking out a living.
He however, begged for efforts to be made by the state government to upgrade their police post, in order to deploy more police officers to the land.
On his part, the President General of Ndokwa Neku Development Union (NNDU), Gen. Mike Ndubisi (Rtd), commended Governor Okowa, for the projects his administration has brought to the Ndokwa nation, particularly in the area of roads which have become landmark items earning him the nickname: “The Road Master”.
He equally acknowledged such ongoing projects as the Kwale Industrial Park and the Bridge over River Ase, linking Kwale with Beneku in particular.
Highlighting some of their development agenda, the President said: “With the collective voice of the Ndokwa Nation, we wish to stress the requirement of lightning up our ethnic nationality by installing, as a matter of urgency, the Step-Down Transformer under the Phase 2 project of the IPP, in Okpai”.
Earlier in his remarks, the representative of the Governor, Rt. Hon. Emmanuel Okoro, PhD restated the determination the state government to carry the people at the grassroots along in the governance of the state.
Dr. Okoro said the visit to the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality was in line with the smart Agenda and Prosperity for all Deltans vision of the Okowa's led administration.
Saying the mandate of his team was to reassure the people of the prevalence of the Governor's good govemance in all nooks and crannies of the state, he said: “In executing that task, my team is to specifically identify the ‘broad development agenda’ of the Ndokwa Ethnic Nationality and also to advice His Excellency, the Governor in that regard”.
The host, HRM Isaac Pius Obi, had in his company at the meeting, the Igwe of Abala, HRM Obi Fredrick Egbunkonye; HRM Amb. Dr. R. C. Osanwuta, the Ehzie of Ezhionum; Hon. Ifemeni, Pioneer Majority Leader of the Delta State House of Assembly and SSA (Agriculture) to Governor Okowa, amongst others.
Dr. E. O. Okoro had in his delegation, Executive Assistants, Senior Special Assistants and Special Assistants to the Governor on Community Development among whom were, Chief David Omoru; Chief Kings Chiekem Daphey; Elder Daniel Olokor; Prince Gavin Ugbome; Prince Igwe Nzekwe; Alhaji Isa Clark, Chief Austin Ukuwrere; Prince Opuofeni, Hon. Gabriel Uti; Comrade Friday Orubor and Others.
